Blessed to be Disciplined!

“Blessed is the man whom You chasten, O LORD, And whom You teach out of Your law” – Psalms 94:12

Seems like life is a taking a rough turn isn’t it? This is never the end for anything but only the beginning. God disciplines so that the world will never crush its feet on us. The enemy is surely on his mission to bound us forever and God is on a greater mission to save mankind from its sins. Discipline a child and he will remember it forever says the Bible.  A part of growing up needs some bitter experiences to mould us into a near – perfect human being and in the end we should still be able to hold on to those values those that are inculcated in us.

When I went through a rough time, I never thought I was being mentored by God. Then it all suddenly clicked that a part of me needs to be corrected all the time. No matter how old I am, my spiritual maturity as well as my earthly maturity may not have improved up to God’s expectations. A wise heart accepts corrections but a fool despises it says the Bible. If I do not heed to God’s voice when the time has come, then a second chance may get delayed. Get on with God at the first opportunity itself. Never procrastinate.

The thing we fail to recognize is that we never acknowledge we are lagging behind. The enemy keeps on whispering that we are right. But no we are not. If we think we are, then it’s time for introspection. A daily mindcheck would definitely keep things under control.

David failed when he slept with Uriah’s wife, Bathsheba and it cost him his firstborn. When Joseph avoided the temptation of his master’s wife, he was rewarded in God’s eyes. Disciplining a child may take a lot of effort but in the end it will taste sweet as honey.
