Connecting with God is a process that renews your mind to align with God’s will. It is an important part of our lives that can bring you that unspoken peace and joy, as well as help you find direction and purpose that you had always longed for. To connect with God, all you need is a willing heart. Imagine winning a lottery ticket. That would be the happiest day of your life. It is the same feeling knowing that you have the Creator of this world by your side. When you walk with Him, He walks along with you.
Most people think of the qualifications for walking with Him like their past, how obedient they were to Christ, how attentive they were at church and how well they are doing it now. There is also a level of ambiguity involved on how to connect with God. Also, our nature to stay connected with the world got us disconnected from God’s wonderful grace. Here are five ways to connect with God that we will discuss further.
A. Prayer is Key
First and foremost, it’s important to understand that connecting with God is as important as feeding your body with all the essential food it needs. Prayer is what is what feeds your soul. It is the key to a relationship with God because we communicate with him when we pray.
Prayer starts deep in our spirit. It is not what begins with our mouth; it is what begins from deep within ourselves i.e. our inner man. We cannot pray by ourselves alone but we need a willing spirit to talk to God and to seek Him at all times.

A prayerful man or woman are conquerors in Christ. When you pray, you become unstoppable. And that is because the Creator lives in you.
When we pray, we often think of the contents of that prayer. Our concern is that if it is not worded right, it wouldn’t please God. In fact, you really do not have to worry about what you pray. The posture of your heart is more important than the words you speak. The Bible also mentions that the Holy Spirit intercedes on our behalf to God (Rom. 8:26). When you speak in tongues, it also supplements your prayer when you do not have the words to pray.
B. Meditate on the Word
While prayer is an important part of it, there are other ways to connect with God too – like reading the Bible, and meditating the Word.
The power of meditation is often underestimated. When you meditate, you listen to what God wants to speak to you. That is why meditation is so important that you really need to stay away from all distractions in limited intervals.
Let me give you another reason to meditate. When you read and observe the Word of God, you really understand what God wants out of you and the path you need to take in the future. God will point it out to you directly before anybody else knows about your life. It is not just about our life that we meditate about; it’s also to closely listen to God and to align to His will that we meditate for.
Listening to God’s voice is like advancing two to ten steps ahead. It is worth more than ten bible classes. Imagine that for a moment. We not only advance even faster than we think, we grow even more spiritually as we heed to his voice.
Most people struggle with obedience to God and that’s one of the few hindrances we see which stops a believer from advancing in his relationship with God. Meditation can help you overcome that. Just five minutes is all you need to make an impact. Start it small and then make it grow big.
C. Worship God
Thirdly, never underestimate the power of worship. Worshipping God can be done alone or in a group setting. You can worship God in your car, in your workplace, in your kitchen and even when you bath. Worshipping God need not happen in a church alone. We can worship him everywhere we like.
In Acts 2, we see that Holy Spirit pouring up on the disciples gathered as they gathered in for a time of prayer and worship. Amazing things happen when you worship together with a group of people. Just like in the day of Pentecost, the Spirit will also pour upon you as you gather together in unity.
Peter, a disciple of Jesus, worshipped God even in jail. In Acts 12, it is mentioned that an angel of the Lord broke the chains on his hands and led him out to safety away from the eye of his persecutors. Worship was not just a routine thing for Peter. He worshipped wherever he could thanking and praising God.
We also witness similar experiences in Paul’s life in Acts 16. This is the real truth behind worship. Worship breaks all chains.
D. Journaling
Fourthly, it’s important to take time to listen for God’s voice. This can be done through quiet reflection or journaling. Journaling helps you recollect what God did for you in the past. When you start with the habit of journaling, you will praise God for all the things he has done for you.
To start journaling, begin by writing down his promises for you. Gradually, write down everything he has done for you from the smallest things to the biggest ones. You will be surprised to know what God has done for you all these years.
E. Fellowship
Finally, don’t forget the importance of fellowship and community. Joining a church community or getting involved in a bible study group can help you deepen your relationship with God.
Fellowship among believers is equally important in our spiritual growth. Get in touch with a church nearby and connect with them on a frequent basis. Also make sure that the church practices biblical principles which are in alignment with the Word. This is very important in the long run.
To conclude, don’t be afraid to ask questions or get curious about your faith and spiritual journey to connect with God. Ask questions and seek advice from spiritual leaders and mentors to help you understand God’s plan for your life. By following these five tips, you can build a strong connection with God that will last a lifetime.
