Success is the word that many have bookmarked as their favorite. We have embraced it as much as the food that we eat. Both are quite similar; we never have enough of both until we are quite satisfied. Hilarious! Are we wearing out ourselves in pursuit of success, following our heart’s desires to gratify all our greed in order to run the world’s race to create a successful life to according to worldly standards? At least some of us did try. Maybe we failed, maybe we may have won. How is God happy with it?
Success is never bad thing. It is the way we achieve it that turns out to be bad. People do anything out of the greed of money these days to achieve their short-lived dreams. The result in the end is a life of desperation, agony and the regret of having lost everything. The way to success is not an easy one. It is a life with hurdles which is overcome with patience and endurance. Some people are in such a bad shape that they desperately want to succeed no matter what the moral side looks like.
Morality plays a big role in our success. People think it is fine to swing between both sides to achieve the impossible. They seem to forget God is still watching over them.
On the day Jesus was tested at the top of the mountain, the Devil showed him all the kingdoms of the world saying “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.” Jesus was tempted into accepting his demands, but since he knew the tempter he rebuked him with the Word of God (Matthew 4). Success is exactly similar to this. We are worshipping the enemy when we try and achieve success through short term means. For a while, we may think it is the right thing to do but it is never right by any means.
God never neglects the righteous, he is in fact concerned about them. Our plans can never match God’s plans. Which is why we have to trust God taking a step in faith combined with patience and perseverance. We want success in a flash. In a blink of an eye, we want it all laid out it front of us. That is the shortest form of success and it never lasts. Success requires time and patience.
“What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?” Matthew 16:26.
People desperately wear themselves out trying to figure out the formula to success. Sometimes they just want to get out of their setbacks. God says “Be still” many times in the Bible, meaning he is working it all out in the background. We think why not today or tomorrow, but God knows what’s coming. It is not easy to wait as it takes courage.
The question to ask right now is – What if we achieve everything in life and ultimately have no God? It would all become zero. Money and success does not count in Heaven. All it matter is how we lived our life with God in the center of it.
