If anything happens, it is all for God’s glory! When Lazarus was dead for four days, it had upsetted his sisters Mary and Martha. Understandably, they had lost all their strength before Jesus had come four days after Lazarus died. The question anyone would have asked is why wasn’t Jesus there to heal Lazarus from the sickness that killed him. This was the same the people asked themselves. The verse below describes how much God uses situations for His glory:

“This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it.” – John 11:4.

In John 11, Mary and Martha could not have seen a way ahead as Lazarus was already dead. Add to that the time when Jesus had come, they certainly did not think that Lazarus would rise then and there. When Jesus spoke that Lazarus would rise again, Martha assumed it would be the day of resurrection.
It is always possible to have faith in the beginning. When the situation comes, the faith we had in the beginning is just isn’t there. Like Lazarus, the situation might be dead. It may take a few days to for the situation to resurrect itself. But are we holding on to the faith? Are we still away from the light?

God had used the situation to his glory as he had explained before. He opened the eyes of all those who had disbelieved that Lazarus would never rise again. We are rooted in human nature to believe that nothing can happen that cannot be explained by sight. Even when we see a miracle, what happens again and again is that we forget the miracle that happened before. Seeing is the ultimate evidence for a worldly man but faith is the ultimate evidence for a believer. “For we walk by faith not by sight.” – 2 Chronicles 5:7.
