“I lift up my eyes to the mountains, where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” – Psalms 121:1
I have come across this verse countless times. I never remember what I have read before if at all a situation arises. My first thought honestly is the way the world thinks – How do I solve this problem? People all around me tell me to be a problem solver. In reality, that never worked. It all came to this one thing – How much did I depend on God to solve my problems?
The world teaches us to stand on our feet. We are often taught to solve or bring the solution on our own. What nobody tells is how they have depended on God when they see disaster right in front of them. Someone who thinks that they can handle situations on their own will gradually be convinced that he or she is no longer able but it is God who makes them able.
Psalms 121 encourages me to get hold of all my promises. I have acknowledged that my strength is not mine but what God gives me. When reading the verse, I get convinced even more that the Lord still watches over me. In the event something goes wrong, I still keep wondering what could have possibly gone wrong despite all the possibilities of a win-win situation. I realise that God still watches over me even when something goes wrong. As I write this, I still feel more powered up that God is still behind the scenes. My success comes knowing that God is still there in spite of what may have happened in the past.
Meditate. Take some time to relax and pray to thank God that He is still watching over us behind the scenes.
God bless,
